TaraVarta — Privacy Policy

TaraVarta ("the app", "we") is a Vedic astrology app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Birth details you enter — name, date of birth, time of birth, and birthplace (which we convert to latitude/longitude and timezone). These are required to cast your chart.
• Saved people — if you add others for matchmaking, we store their birth details too.
• AI conversations — your questions to the AI astrologer and the chat history.
• Account data — if you sign in, a phone number and an account identifier.
• Preferences — theme, language, ayanamsa/house-system, and notification settings.

We do not collect location from device sensors, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers.

Why we use it

Birth details are used solely to compute your Vedic chart, panchang, dashas, compatibility (Guna Milan), and daily readings. When you use the AI astrologer, your question and the relevant chart facts are sent to our secure servers and a third-party AI service to generate a personalised answer.

Phone number & sign-in

We verify your phone number to create your account. You may sign in using a one-tap phone-verification service or an SMS one-time password. When you choose one-tap, the verification service shares your verified phone number with us per your consent; this is used only to identify your account.

Where it's stored

• On your device — chart, saved people, chats, and preferences.
• Secure cloud infrastructure — if you sign in: your account record and subscription status are stored with a trusted cloud provider.
• AI processing — AI requests are processed by a third-party AI service to generate readings.

Sensitive data

Birth date, time, and place may be considered sensitive. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising or profiling beyond generating astrology content.

Third parties

We share the minimum data needed with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf:

• Cloud infrastructure provider — secure authentication and data storage.
• AI service provider — generating astrological readings.
• Phone-verification provider — optional one-tap sign-in.
• Payment processor — processing payments for question packs.

Their processing is governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Your choices and rights

• Edit or delete any saved person at any time.
• Start a new chat / your chats stay on your device.
• Delete everything — Profile → "Delete my account & data" permanently removes your local data, your account, and your stored profile. This cannot be undone.

Retention

Data is retained until you delete it. Deleting your account removes your profile from our systems.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change accordingly.
